3-1/2" Porcelain Saucer

The Portuguese began importing Chinese porcelain ware into Europe in the 15th century. It became so popular that several countries launched Far Eastern trading companies. Civil war brought an end to the Ming Dynasty in the mid 1600’s, temporarily shifting Europe’s porcelain trade to Japan. Importation of China porcelain into Europe resumed shortly thereafter, and it eventually made its way into North America. It continued to be popular throughout the 18th and 19th centuries. This modern porcelain pottery dish is reminiscent of earlier designs. Approximately 3-1/2" in diameter and 3/4" tall. Microwave and dishwasher safe. Imported from Japan.
