This small pottery canteen or flask resembles a flattened bottle with small lug handles so that a carrying strap can be attached.  

About 4” in diameter and holds approximately 6 oz although since these are handmade sizes do vary. Handmade in Indiana. Made of sturdy stoneware pottery with a salt glaze. Based on a variety of 19th century designs. 

This pottery piece is fired laying on one side, so one side of the flask will always show the firing marks.
